Here's some practical tips for using cursor

If you're like me, you probably spent a lot of time in Cursor before actually reading the docs.

Even if you read the docs, I bet you will still learn something.

If you're not yet using Cursor, it's absolutely incredible, the free tier is honestly great (though I splurged on Pro ha ha)

Let's get coding.

As a programmer, leveraging Cursor's full potential can significantly enhance your coding experience. Here are some refreshers / tips.

1. Utilize @ Shortcodes for Contextual Assistance:

@Files: Reference entire files in your project to provide context in your queries.
@Folders: Include entire folders to broaden the context for more comprehensive assistance.
@Code: Highlight specific sections of code to focus the AI's attention on particular areas.
@Docs: Access pre-indexed third-party documentation or add your own to enrich the AI's responses with relevant information.
@Git: Incorporate git commits, diffs, or pull requests into your prompts to discuss version control aspects.
@Codebase: Allow Cursor to scan your entire codebase for a holistic understanding and more accurate suggestions.
@Web: Enable Cursor to search the internet for additional information, expanding the scope of its knowledge.
@Chat and @Definitions: Use these in ⌘ K to include chat messages or nearby code definitions as context.
Command Shortcuts for Efficiency:
⌘ K: Use this shortcut for on-demand code generation and editing. Describe what you need, and Cursor will generate or refactor code accordingly.
⌘ L: Engage in Codebase Chat to ask questions about your codebase. This feature intelligently pulls in files to provide context-aware responses.
AI-Powered Code Review:
Use Cursor's AI Review feature to scan your recent changes, catching potential bugs before they reach production. Customize the review to focus on specific areas like performance or security.
Composer for App Generation:
Describe your app idea, and let Composer generate a functional codebase. This feature is perfect for prototyping or building proof-of-concept applications.
Privacy and Security:
Enable Privacy Mode to ensure your code never leaves your machine, maintaining confidentiality for sensitive projects.
